Description

We stock the two most poplular Cements for moldmaking.

WHITE HYDROCAL:

HYDROCAL® White Gypsum Cement. This is a good choice for Mask Latex molds. It is harder than #1 Pottery Plaster and will hold detail longer with repeated castings. High green strength minimizes breakage during removal from the most intricate latex molds. A good selection for decreasing production time on masks. Also works well for quick mother molds. (Please note: This product is not for lifecasting of body parts.FOR PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY!

WARNING This product is for making molds of clay and industrial patterns only. When mixed with water, Hydro Cal hardens and then becomes very hot. DO NOT attempt to make a mold enclosing any part of the body using this material. Failure to follow these instructions can cause severe chemical burns that may require surgical removal of affected tissue. Read MSDS precautions thoroughly before using. Dust from this product may cause eye, skin, nose, throat, or respiratory irritation. Use eye, skin, and respiratory protection in accordance with good industrial hygiene practices. Read MSDS of product thoroughly before using for specific details. Product safety information: 800-507-8899.

THIS PRODUCT IS FOR PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

MIX RATIO: The manufacture recommended mix-ratio of White Hydro Cal is: 45 parts water to 100 parts Hydro Cal by weight. The average setup time is 25-35 minutes when manually mixed. Please note that parts can be in grams, ounces or pounds etc.

MAIN FEATURES

Offering twice the compressive strength of plaster, Hydrocal® White Gypsum Cement is especially suitable in thin, delicate sections where high green strength is required. Multi-purpose Hydrocal® White Gypsum Cement:
  • Is ideal for both solid and hollow casting of lamp bases, figurines, moldings and general castings
  • Offers long workability; setting expansion twice that of molding plaster and pottery plaster
  • Has a great value to performance ratio
  • Achieves a stark, white color, making it ideal for accepting colorants
  • Sets 25-35 minutes after machine mixing
  • Requires 45 parts water by weight per 100 parts plaster.
NOTE — For best storage results, keep indoors in a dry, stable environment, away from drafts.

ULTRA CAL 30:

Traditional tooling gypsum cement with very low expansion. Formulated for close tolerance tooling where extreme accuracy and surface hardness are required. Used widely in the SPFX industry to make hard, super strong precise molds. Ideal for Foam Latex molds, where durability and detail reproduction are a concern. Can be heated in an oven. (Please note that this product is not for use on skin and is NOT a life casting material. FOR PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY!

WARNING This product is for making molds of industrial patterns only. When mixed with water, Ultra Cal undergoes a chemical reaction which causes it to harden and then slowly become very hot and highly alkaline (corrosive to skin like drain cleaner.) If mixed incorrectly this process can happen very rapidly. DO NOT attempt to make a mold enclosing any part of the body using this material. Failure to follow these instructions can cause severe chemical burns that may require surgical removal of affected tissue. Dust from products may cause eye, skin, nose, throat, or respiratory irritation. Use eye, skin, and respiratory protection in accordance with good industrial hygiene practices. Read MSDS of product for specific details. Product safety information: 800-507-8899.

THIS PRODUCT IS FOR PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

MIX RATIO: The manufacture recommended mix-ratio of Ultra Cal 30 is: 38 parts water to 100 parts Ultra Cal 30 by weight. The average setup time is 25-35 minutes when manually mixed. Please note that parts can be in grams, ounces or pounds etc. Do not mix with your hands, A paint paddle or jiffy mixer is recommended.

MAIN FEATURES

  • Is recommended where extreme accuracy and surface hardness are required (i.e. duplicator molds)
  • Provides the lowest expansion of any rapid-setting gypsum cement
  • Is ideal for splash-casting molds and models for phenolic, polyester and epoxy resins
  • Sets 25-35 minutes after machine mixing
  • Requires 38 parts water by weight per 100 parts plaster

NOTE - For best storage results, keep indoors in a dry, stable environment, away from drafts.

To prolong the life of your molds, store them in a warm dry place and do not cast in cold temperatures.

INSIDER TIP:
Prior to casting, hydrate your mold by spraying some water in and slush it around so that every surface on the inside of your mold is damp. It's important to remember that latex wants to start skinning and setting immediately when it encounters a dry surface. Wetting your mold slows down the drying and skinning time of the latex, allowing you more working time to brush the latex in and capture all the detail of your mold before it sets up. Drain the water completely from your mold and let it dry so there are no shiny and slick surfaces, and the moisture is absorbed. If casted too early, these slick spots could create voids and ruin your cast upon pull!
