Hello Monster Makers:
First off I just wanted to say: THANK YOU!!! I have been unable to find information on mask making until now and would like to say you did a great job on your internet site. I found everything that I was looking for quickly and easily. I am going to order your book, The Monster Makers Mask Makers Hand Book, probably by downloading it because I don't think I have the patience to wait for it by mail! If the book is as well made as your internet site then I will be more than satisfied. You'll certainly be hearing from me again. I'll be the one with the outstanding mask. Thanks again!!!

JASON HALEY

Dear Folks:

Thanks for your letter. Strangely enough, I found your site by typing in the word "Monster" in aol netfind. I saw the words Mclaughlin foam and all these memories went rushing through my head. We used to use it years ago. It was the best. We did the entire movie "Coneheads" using Mclaughlin components...Over 800 prosthetic cones were made. Then for some reason, the foam became unavailable and we started using another brand ...anyway, I hope your formula is true to the original, or even close. That would be great! I was just awarded the contract for the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" spin-off called "Angel", lots of prosthetics, lots of foam needed. I only ordered a one gallon kit so that I can do some tests. Since most of the prosthetics in this show are facial, I probably don't need the animatronic foaming agent just yet, but here's no telling what the future holds. Well, I can't wait to try it out. Your web site is great. keep up the good work. I'll pass it along to others.
Thanks,
David Miller (David Miller Creations - Los Angeles, CA)

Dear Sirs:

Thanks to a friend of mine, I found the coolest place for FX makeup and sculpting.....The Monster Makers! I've told all my friends to point their browsers to www.monstermakers.com. WOW! what a setup!

Todd Starr, Cleveland Ohio

Great web site!

Recently, on Halloween, I made my first adventure into the world of SPFX makeup. I finally fulfilled one of my long-time dreams and made a foam latex appliance type mask (I'll send a picture sometime). I received a huge response and honestly had more fun creating that zombie mask than I ever had doing anything in my life.

To make a boring story short, I am now expanding into the world of slush-mold latex mask making. I was disappointed, however, at the lack of web sites devoted to this practice. I found a few, but Monster Makers is definitely the best. Thanks for providing an informative, open, and honest web site for those of us interested in joining the ranks of the mask makers.

Dave

P.S. I hope to get a few pictures on the Customer's Gallery in the future!

Hi guys:

Just wanted to say hello. Love your catalog! We are about to send in our first order. My website is www.savini.com

Dear Monster Makers,

I happened to run across your site today as I sat thinking about the Dick Smith monster makeup book I bought as a 10 year old (in '64). I really enjoyed that book and today thought about the art of making latex masks. I REALLY enjoyed your site. It is fun and complete. It helped me realize that there are people all over the world making masks -- and apparently having a great deal of fun with it. Thanks for a wonderful site.

Hey Arnold,

I just like to say thanks a lot for sending me the deluxe kit in a hurry. I actually got it a day earlier than you said. I got my basement geared up the other day and assembled my stand for my armature. I couldn't wait to get started. I just spent three hours working with the clay and it has been a blast! I've tried sculpting a monster before, but without a full head armature or oil based clay. Boy was that hell. The monster maker clay is very easy to work with (once you soften it!) and cleans up easy. Hopefully the rest of the process runs smoothly and things fall in place. Thanks again.

Jeremy "FX" Fossum

P.S. If things work out smoothly, I'll send you the pictures.

To the monster dudes at Monstermaker. com,
I was just surfing around the web and came across your site. I want to say that it was cool to find a web site for mask collectors and monstermakers. It's been a personal passion of mine as far as I can remember. Keep up the good work!

Take care,

Steve Wang/ Monster maker

P.S. You should have more links to other fine mask companies as well as people who just want to sell their personal work but don't want to open a full-fledged business.

Just wanted to let you know I came across your site via The Page That Dripped Blood and I love it. I plan to place an order with you in the next few days. I am 40 yrs old and have loved makeup ever since I was a kid. (I still have the decaying, original copy of Dick Smith's special issue on makeup from Famous Monsters of Filmland.) I now have a hobby/business of film/video production with an emphasis on horror. Thank you for your site and wonderful line of mask/makeup products.

Mike

I would like to send a word of thanks out to you guys. I am in love with Special FX, and with your help I can make the wild and wonderful. I am sending you a couple of pictures that I've taken of some not so nice teeth. I bought your dental trays, alcote sep. and rubber formers. I never knew making teeth could be this much FUN! Thank you again. And keep up the great products!!!!! Please send me any new tips or catalogs you might have. Thank you.

Dear Monster Makers,
A short time ago I ordered some mask making supplies. I can't tell you how much I enjoy, to say the least, this new hobby. I am sending you a picture of my first and second mask and the best yet is still to come. I am making a devil mask that is really great. I would also like to thank you for the great quality products that made the job much easier and the Monster Makers Hand Book is a great help also.

Hi!
Congratulations on the unreal page. It's the first page on the subject that I've visited, and I reckon it was a good choice. I've been interested in SPFX for quite some time (a few years). I'm not in a position to start anything major, as I live in H.K, and have little space (unless my dad lets me build a shack on the roof!), but you might hear from me ordering a book.

See Ya,

Stu Patience

Monster Makers,
I just surfed your page and it is awesome. I've been reading Fangoria for 5 years and I've seen you guys several times in it. I've been doing make-up since I was 7 and now I'm 18. My name is Nick Collins and I am a Scenic and Lighting Design major at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. I'm originally from Georgia and for the last 3 years, I have been a theater technician for Six Flags Over Georgia Theme Park. I have almost all of the books that you sell and if I can save some money, I'm going to try to learn prosthetics and mask-making. Thank you for having a cool site and giving me a respectable place to turn to when I'm ready for it.

Frightfully yours,

Nick Collins

P.S: How can I get a Monster Makers T-shirt?

Dear Monster Makers:

Just received our first supply order from you yesterday. You're the first company that we have dealt with that hasn't danced around with our order. We were told our order would be here in 5-7 days and it arrived on the 5th day. All items intact and no excuses for any problems. I am impressed so far with the level of service I have received. My company delivers top quality service to its guests and expect nothing less from its suppliers. You have met our challenge and I would like to commend you on a job well done.

We have bumped your company to the top of our supply list and will continue to purchase supplies from you. Quality and service far exceed cost in our book. Hopefully the rest of the companies out there will begin to realize that to be the fact as well.

Sincerely,

Patrick A. Wheelock

Hi,
I'm 16 years old and when I was about 13 my father brought home a movie about how to make latex monster masks. At the time I had no real interest in it so I watched it and thought to myself, yeah that's cool. But now Boy do I wish I had kept the tape somewhere where I could find it. I thought I would never be able to find out how they did it or where to find supplies. Well now thanks to your wonderful site, I don't need to worry anymore. I just wanted you to know that this site is magnificent and am looking forward to the unveiling of your chat line.

Thanks for the inspiration

Dear Monster Makers:
Yours has to be the coolest website!! I will be definitely ordering latex and kits from you. I am a puppet/costume builder and performer. Thanks for making your page down to earth and user friendly, everything I would need is right there! I was wondering if you had a catalog or detailed price list for the kits and also premade masks!

THANKS

Jim

Dearest Monster Makers:
Stumbled across you address and thought I'd contact you. GREAT JOB ON THIS SITE!!!! WOW!!!!! I've been working off and on in this FX industry out here in LA (with Greg Cannom, Screaming Mad George, Will Vinton Claymation in Portland, etc.) and have found your site very informative. People think LA is the Mecca for FX artists, but professionals out here are so cynical... truly sad. Howard Berger was saying that it is so hard to find lab techs without a bad attitude, and that he would hire someone just for their positive attitude. Anyhow... good going. Also, have you worked out here in the industry, or any where else? Your sculpting and painting talents are above par and superior to most of the artists out here in LA. Take care. Hell, you're probably better off in Ohio -- there's nothing worse than a cynical artist, and being away from here would undoubtedly preserve your exuberant spirit. Respond when you get the chance.

Hi Monster Makers,
I think I've finally decided what I want to be when I grow up! A Monster Maker! I have my first mold ready for casting. Can't wait to see how it turns out. I'll send a picture of the final product. I may become an accomplished sculptor yet! All our friends and family think I have a real talent for this! Hope they're right! Thanks for all your help and your pleasant courteous service.

Thanks again,

Hello Monster Makers:
What a great web site! It is really great! I love the step by step photos and will certainly be coming back. Great job.

Hello:
I would like to say thanks for the prompt return call. You guys are very quick to service your customers.

We like to make our own costumes from scratch. That's why I would like to get into making masks. Plus, here in Omaha we're experiencing a movie madness. I see this as an opportunity BIG TIME. If you know what I mean.

Anyway, again thanks. If there is any SPFX products that I need, I'll be sure to get them from your company. You guys are the best!

Jerry Mac
